What does ghd straighteners stand for?
ghd straighteners stands for 'good hair day'. The key behind the superior performnace of the ghd straighteners is down to 3 main factors.
1.ghd was the first to recognise the use of cermaic in hair straighteners! This simple innovation has of course been subsequently copied by pretty much every manufacturer since. Ceramic is great because it conducts heat effectively but also because it allows the iron to slide through the hair with snagging.
2.ghd’s technology allowed the irons to heat up very quickly indeed. Back in 2000, the iron reached it’s optimium temperature in 10 seconds or so – about 10 times faster than competitor hair straighteners. More importantly the iron maintained temperature. Other models loose heat as soon as the straighteners start to be used (the hair absorbs the heat). It is the maintenance of the tempearture of the iron that is crucial.
3.No hot spots! If you placed a thermometer ( don’t try this at home) at various places on the plate of competitor straighteners you would see that the temprature varies considerably according to where you place it. the ghd straightener has a matrixed heating element embedded in it to ensure even heat distribution through the plate.
How do I curl with ghd hair straighteners?
You can create differnt types of curl depending on the type of ghd hair straightener you use. To create tight curls use the ghd hair straightener or to create bigger ones you can use the standard ghd hair straightener . Follow the steps below and keep practising:
1. Blow dry your hair.
2. Place the straightener vertical to your head, as close to your scalp as possible.
3. Rotate the straightener 180 degrees away from your head and pull towards you slowly and evenly in a smooth movement without stopping. The slower you move the tighter the curl will be.
You can also try an alterantive curl by placing the iron horizontally rather than vertically.
